Kalimpong


Kalimpong is a charming hill station settled in the foothold of the lower Himalayas and is located in West Bengal. It is a mystical and enchanting place with a rare ethnic blend of hill people. Tour to Kalimpong lets the tourists to explore the vast reaches of nature. The place has a moderate climate ranging from between 15°C to 25°C. The place was ruled by Bhutan for 155 years, after which it flourished as a center of wool trade with Tibet. Gumpas, unusual churches, temples, monks and missionaries exist in the fun-loving society. Kalimpong offers Buddhist Monasteries, Hindu Temples, Christian Churches, Flowers, Orchids and exotic flora, old colonial bungalows, scenic view points and above all the panorama of snows.

Dr. Graham's Homes:
Dr.Graham's Homes is a school on the slopes of Kalimpong's highest hill, Delo, which is spread across the area of 500 acre. There is strength of around over 700 boys and girls in the school, who are accommodated in small cottages. The school has its own dairy, poultry and bakery and school organizes "Mayfair" in the month of May every year.

Flower Nurseries:
Universal Nursery is one of the most popular flower nurseries in Kalimpong, and is located at a distance of approximately 3 kilometer from the town. Sri Ganesh Moni Pradhan Nursery is another famous nursery located at a distance of 12 km.

Durpindara:
Durpindara is the highest point in Kalimpong and offers a breath-taking view of the plains and River Teesta. The place is located at an altitude of 1,402 meter and is also an observatory point which is located at 3 kilometer from the town. Moreover, it is easily accessible by car and tourist can enjoy the beautiful views of the Himalayan ranges.

Delo:
Delos i located at the edge connecting two hills, Deolo Hill & Durpin Hill. It is one of the highest point in Kalimpong, has an altitude of 1,704 m (5,591 ft). The River Teesta flows in the valley and also separates Kalimpong from the state of Sikkim. Also the soil is reddish in color.
